Winter antifreeze strategy for chillers

时间:2018-04-12   访问量:1185

The cold winter is coming. In order to ensure the normal operation of the chiller and extend its service life, it is very important to do a good job of antifreeze. So how can the chiller do a good job of antifreeze? Xiaote has carefully prepared a winter antifreeze strategy for you to help you easily cope with the cold weather!

Chiller antifreeze

When the temperature is below 0℃, antifreeze should be added.

Importance of adding antifreeze

When the temperature is below 0℃, antifreeze needs to be added to the machine. Antifreeze can prevent the coolant from freezing in the cold winter, which will crack the laser and the internal pipes of the chiller and damage the sealing of the pipes. It should be noted that our chillers have certain requirements for antifreeze. Wrong selection or improper use will damage the internal pipes of the equipment.

Choose the right antifreeze

The following requirements should be met when selecting antifreeze: good antifreeze performance, anti-corrosion and anti-rust properties, no swelling and erosion of rubber sealing tubes, not too high low-temperature viscosity, and stable chemical properties.

Antifreeze addition ratio

In order to ensure the normal operation of the chiller and laser and prevent machine damage, it is recommended that the proportion of antifreeze added should not exceed 30%.

Principles of using antifreeze

The lower the concentration, the better. Most antifreeze solutions are corrosive. As long as the antifreeze performance is met, the lower the concentration, the better.

The shorter the use time, the better. When the temperature is continuously higher than 5°C, the antifreeze needs to be completely drained, and the chiller needs to be flushed with purified water or distilled water for multiple cycles, and then replaced with the usual purified water or distilled water. It is not advisable to mix. Different brands of antifreeze should be avoided from mixing to avoid chemical reactions, precipitation or bubbles due to different main ingredients or additives.

Before starting the chiller in winter, check whether it is frozen

Before restarting the industrial chiller in winter, it is necessary to check whether the chiller water circulation system is frozen.

You can use the method of draining the circulating water. If the water flow is significantly reduced or cannot be drained normally, it may be a sign of ice. In addition, if the flow alarm is triggered when the machine is turned on and there is no water flow, it may also be frozen.

If ice occurs, first turn off the power supply of the chiller and related equipment to avoid damage to the machine. Then, use a heater (or small sun) to warm up the chiller to help melt the ice. When the ice is completely melted, the chiller can be restarted. During the process, don't forget to carefully check the chiller, external pipes and related equipment to ensure that the water circulation pipes are unobstructed. If the ambient temperature is below 0°C, if the user's own conditions allow and there is no local power outage, the user can choose not to turn off the chiller at night and keep the chiller running 24 hours a day to ensure the circulation of cooling water and prevent freezing.

The chiller should be placed in a ventilated location and dusted regularly.

Chiller placement

Keep the air outlet (fan) of the chiller at least 1.5 meters away from obstacles, and keep the air inlet (dust screen) of the chiller at least 1 meter away from obstacles, which is beneficial to the heat dissipation of the chiller.

Chiller cleaning and dust removal

It is necessary to use an air gun to regularly clean the dust and impurities on the dust screen of the chiller and the surface of the condenser to avoid poor heat dissipation of the chiller. Note: The air gun should be kept at a safe distance (about 15CM) from the condenser fins. The air gun outlet should be blown vertically toward the condenser.

Maintenance method of chiller when not in use in winter

When the ambient temperature is below 0℃ and the equipment is out of service for a long time, we need to drain the water to prevent it from freezing and cracking.

Drainage treatment

Chiller Drainage

Drain cooling water: Open the drain valve at the bottom of the equipment to completely drain the cooling water. When draining the water inside the chiller, you need to remove the inlet and outlet pipes and open the water inlet plug and drain valve.

Dry the pipes: Use a compressed air gun to blow out the moisture in the pipes inside the device. Note: Do not use an air gun to blow air into the joints above/on the sides of the water inlet and outlet to avoid damage.

Placement Processing

After cleaning and drying the inside and outside of the chiller, reinstall the cover. It is recommended to temporarily store the equipment in a place where it will not affect production, and cover the equipment with a clean plastic bag to prevent dust and water vapor in the air from entering the equipment.

As autumn turns to winter and frost falls, there are ways to prevent freezing without panic. Take good care of the chiller and wait for the spring to come and the flowers to bloom.
